Your Right to Data Deletion

Under Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act, 2021, and Meta's data protection requirements, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data from our platform.

What Data Will Be Deleted?

When you request data deletion, we will permanently remove:

  • Your profile information (name, phone number, WhatsApp ID)
  • Location data and service history
  • ID documents and verification photos (for service providers)
  • Ratings and reviews you've provided
  • Payment records and wallet balance (after final settlement)
  • All conversation history and message metadata

Data We May Retain

For legal compliance and dispute resolution, we may retain certain anonymized records:

  • Completed transaction records (without personal identifiers) for 7 years as required by Zimbabwe law
  • Anonymized usage statistics for platform improvement
  • Records necessary for ongoing legal proceedings or disputes

How to Request Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data through any of the following methods:

Method 1: Via WhatsApp

Send a message to our WhatsApp Business number with the text "DELETE MY DATA" or "DELETE ACCOUNT"

We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days.

Method 2: Via Email

Send a deletion request to: takudzwa.mombe@honeycomb.co.zw

Please include in your email:

  • Your full name
  • Your registered WhatsApp phone number
  • Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"

Method 3: Automated API Request

If you're a developer or prefer an automated method, you can submit a deletion request via our API:

Deletion Timeline

Request Received (Day 0)

You submit your data deletion request via WhatsApp, email, or API

Identity Verification (Day 1-3)

We verify your identity by sending a confirmation code to your registered WhatsApp number

Processing (Day 4-25)

We process your deletion request, removing data from all systems and backups

Confirmation (Day 26-30)

We send you a confirmation that your data has been permanently deleted

Important Notes

Before Requesting Deletion:

  • Ensure all pending jobs are completed or cancelled
  • Withdraw any remaining wallet balance (for service providers)
  • Resolve any outstanding payment disputes
  • Download your data if you need a copy (request via email first)
